• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Ok, im in a toss up between the Pro 2054 and Pro 2052. Both I can get for the same price. I don't believe there is any trunking frequencies in my area (Luzerne/Columbia county, Pennsylvania). But then again, im kinda new to scanning. Anyways....I also want the ability to hook it to my computer. I already have Radioshacks USB Scanner wire. Id like to be able to download free software. Im tryin to go cheap.
Amount of channels aren't a big deal becasue their isn't over 300 channels in my area. And I don't program all of them anyway. So...max....150 channels. I did some research, but don't have alot of time on my hands. I checked some wiki's at RR, but not a whole lot that distinguished the two.

So....which one is favored more? More user flexable? Interactive? Blah Blah Blah....

Thanks guys

2052 hands down....

Trunking, true computer control available, lots of software, kick-butt milair RX, etc etc etc

The only think the 2054 would be better for is if you wanted to mount it in a car because it is DIN size, but I have used a 2053 (very close in size to the 2052) in a car so I would still choose the 2052 for mobile use.

Lol, it would look so OUT OF PLACE in my 99 ford Escort. I wouldn't even know were to put it.

Well then I'll get the 2052. I just wish it had alpha tags
