The PRO-2067's are riddled with problems. Mine has no PL/DPL capability, it never decodes right.

For the screen, I would check and see if the screws holding the LCD are tight. I had a similar issue when fiddling around with my PRO-79. The screen was blank but it worked. I went in, adjusted it, and tightened up the screws and it is back to normal.

I just turned up the contrast on the display on mine.......these are a little better than a PRO92 but not by much.

The key question with the LCD brightness is does it get more contrast when you hold the display to a bright light above it. If it's still dim or hard to read, it's a pretty good bet the display itself is failing. Since usually these are complete assemblies (display and driver electronics) they're replaced as a total. Displays can fade over time if they start leaking air into the segment areas below the front glass and where the light shifting segments are. No fix, just replace. Also, if the drive electronics for the display starts failing they can also cause weak or no display. Either way, it's a replace not a fix.

Hi rick, where is a good place to get this part or one that might work as a replacement part?
Thank you

Pretty much from Radio Shack only since they both repair and stock parts for their GRE based scanners. My 106 display failed completely (no display) but everything still scanned fine. Luckily, under warranty so R/S replaced/repaired at no charge.

One there are several things that can cause a display to fade. if the unit sits on a desk or table and the display is facing a bright light over time it will fade (been there) if it sits in a vehicle and it is in direct sun light or in an enclosed vehicle the heat can make it fade. This is just some of them. I had these happen to me in the past.
