I am interested in monitoring one APCO-25 TGID all day.

I found a PRO-2096 on E-bay with a broken display.

Radio Shack PRO 2096 Digital Trunking/Mobile Scanner | eBay

Is it possible to clear the memory, program just this one system and TGID, and be able to monitor it all without seeing the display? I know that computer control is not available. Has anyone done this?

Your help is appreciated!

I have until Jul 17, 201116:16:00 PDT to make my hard decision, although I have already bid at a low price.

Well looks like it was dropped on that upper corner. Yes, you will be able to clear the radio with a reset of the memory and then you will need to get a program cable and purchase programming software. I have a few 2096's and the blank screen is most likely a repaired by opening the unit and trimming a small sliver off the ribbon cable that plugs in to the screen with a very sharp scissors. If you search this topic you will find a lot of threads that talk about this because if you owned one of the 2096's 6 of 10 had this problem. You can program it by hand but without a screen I think it would make it harder then it is.

Tle LCD display is available for this radio from RSU Parts and can be ordered at any company owned Radio Shack. The part number is 12429270 and will cost you $42.79 plus shipping.

Thanks so much for the info. Now I'm trying to find someone to lend me a USB cable, if not I guess I'll end up buying the screen.

I know this is late, but thanks for the info. I was able to trim the ribbon cable and fix the problem. My scanner never moves so hopefully it will stay fixed for the rest of its working life. I didn't spend any money on parts and bought this for 130 on a gamble so I'm happy it worked.
