Does any one know if there is a way to search between 240MHz--270 MHz in 5KHz steps on the Pro-43? If so how? Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. I believe that the UHF SATCOM channels are in 25Khz increments (the PRO-43 defaults to 12.5Khz) anyway, correct?

BTW, I use my PRO-43 for the same band. Make sure that you switch to NFM mode.

ok sorry, I saw you mention MilAir, and my first thought was AM.

Im curious, what would you typically hear in this area your monitoring, I know its SATCOM, but is it voice transmission, or only data/encrypted voice. I tinkered with satelite listening before, but didnt have much luck.

There are currently three U.S. satellite services that operate between 240-270 MHz, one uses 25 KHz spacing, the second uses 10 KHz spacing, and the third has 5 KHz spacing. The transponders pass along whatever is hitting them, so while US Forces prefer to use FM on the birds if a pirate or cordless phone user in Russia uses USB it will come through in USB.

Please Note: A new SatCom service called Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) will go online in 2012 replacing the current UHF Follow-On services. MUOS will utilize a 3G WCDMA interface, similar to what cellphones use now which means the new SATCOM service will not be monitorable.

NO NEED TO BE SORRY! I appreciate all of the feedback. As a newbie in the world of SATCOM each bit of info is helpful to me. i was hoping to pick up voice transmissions but so far no luck. Not sure if I'm missing something or there isn't much out there to grab.
