I may be getting a 433 for my birthday in May and I was wondering, is there a way to put in a discriminator tap?

tell me about it,hard to find softwear for it too.one way is to snoop around in it with a wire(note not a bare wire you dont want to short anything out) and see where you get the strongest sig on 10.7 ie: scanner is on local wx and see where you get the strongest s reading with out touching anything in the 433.

I tried the wiki, no help. I don't quite understand the post about the wire and 10.7. I wish I could figure this thing out lol.

I had posted it a few months ago. I was the first one (to my knowledge) that figured it out. I am at my work desk and I dont have my notes. Try reasearching the forums under radio shack here on radioreference.com. I had explained the tapping proceedures to the simpliest point.The PRO433 works great for discriminator output. Since I am not that great at web development I never tried to post the information to the WIKI reference.

Crack it open and find the numbers of the chip.You can easily locate the correct pin to tap on the net based on the chip maker\number.

Found this in another thread, but that doesn't really help me either. What pin am I looking for? KD5DGA Could you message me with some more detailed instructions?

I had asked for this a few times in the past about a discriminator output for the PRO433. I just completed mine a hour ago and works fine.
I started here for the information on what IC to possibly look for;
http://www.discriminator.nl/index-en.html
I had found that the PRO433 uses a SL5018 low power narrow band if ic.
http://www.discriminator.nl/ic/sl5018.pdf
The output is on pin 9 of that ic. However if you turn the scanner over, bottom side showing up, you will see a test point called LND4 FM det. This is hooked to pin 9 of the SL5018. I used a sheilded thin cable and hooked to this point (soldered)then to a 10k 1/4 watt resistor to the center pin hook up of a 1/8 inch mono socket on the back side of my radio.

Works great.

This was what I posted a few months ago. Its simple.

Here is the link,http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93667

If someone is capable post this to the PRO433 WIKI reference.
