Am hoping somebody can help me with a pro-79 problem i have.

When i turn it on there is a small crackle at the speaker as if its turning on but the display is blank, it doesnt scan & the keypad appears dead.

Are there any common faults with this model that could cause this?.

If you don't mind loosing the stored frequencies, you can try a reset or re reinitialize. Though I think you have a bad trace.
The reset procedure isn't the same as others. Others say hold the [2] and [9] buttons and turn on.

This is different. Also, I could only find an owner's guide. No service manual.

I think reseting saves frequencies and initialize clears them.

RadioPics Database - Schematics, Manuals. Etc.

Perhaps someone else will be able to say what other model your pro 79 shares and if it has a service manual, you may be able to use that.
