So this is my first scanner and I was wondering if this is a good one to start off with or not. Also, in general is this a good scanner?

Im going to be listening a lot in the city but was wondering if it would work very well in a very rural setting. I go down to the country a lot and was figuring on bringing it down there with me to keep me company.

Thanks and i really like the site, very informative.

I'll testify

I have a PRO-91, and I use it frequently. It does trunk well, and receives well on the conventional frequncies. I do use the aftermarket 800MHZ rubber antenna. It seems to hear better.

Pro-91

It depends on where you are and what you want to hear. Some people are in the middle of a big city fairly close to transmission sites. Some are in the country and need more sensitivity. Some are in between but have to deal with close signals while trying to hear something relatively weak. So there are MANY factors that go in to determining "how good" a scanner is for one particular user.

Is a PRO-91 the newest? No.
Does it have the latest features? No.
Can it receive conventional frequencies? Yes.
