Howdy,
I would like to take this time to tell everyone I have the Pro-95 trunk scanner and so far im really impressed with the deal. I bought the telescoping antenna for the scanner and so far I can hearlittle bit
more distant police frequncies. I bought this scanner a year ago
and I love using this scanner. I recommend this scanner to anyone
that is looking for a good scanner. :)

Thats good news to hear!!! i just purchased a Pro 95 about a week ago, and i've heard nothing but good reviews about it. It was a birthday present to myself, since nobody here appriciates my facination with the world of scanning. The police in Hamilton went to trunking a while back so i've been wanting to get a trunktracker for some time, especially one with alpha text, since the idea of having to memorize 1000 channels doesnt appeal to me. Were you able to get a data cable with you scanner? I'm loving the idea of being able to program my scanner so easily.

Happy listening

Yes sir, I really enjoy this scanner deal that I have so far
it worked really well for me. Im glad to see your scanner
is working good for you. I dont know how this was or anything
mine picked up a cell phone or a house phone because I heard
the thing when you call someone it makes that tone? The band
I picked it up was on the 866.045 frequency.

From what you said it sounds like you picked up a cordless phone. On my old scanner Pro 2200 i could only pick up the conversations in the 46Mhz range, but alot of the newer cordless phones utilize the 800 -900 and up range. I know that the cellular frequencies are blocked out on my model, most cell phone conversations you only pick up one side of the conversation and if they are using a new digital phone the your chances of understanding what is being said is pretty low anyway, so i stay away from cellular all together. I got my first scanner when i was 13 and with regards to cordless phone conversations, i had my whole complex consisting of three 6 story apartment buildings and several townhouses all mapped out. It was my own personal soap opera listenening to everybodies conversations. My family still wonders to this day why they all got cordless phones for Christmas...hehehe

I found some listing for cordless phone on this site if your interested, if you have the data cable its pretty easy to cut and paste the frequencies back and forth to your scanner. It was just a random search on goggle for cordless phone frequencies http://www.csgnetwork.com/phone2freqtable.html

Have fun!

Be aware that monitoring cordless phones is illegal by Federal Law by the ECPA. Monitoring of any phone conversation is illegal by the same Act.

ECPA= Electronic Communications Privacy Act

PRO 95 SCANNER

I purchased a PRO 95 scanner recently. I have been using scanners for years, however, I am new to the 800 systems which many agencies are going to now. I found the radio to be very user-friendly. Programming was not as complicated as I originally thought it would be. I especially enjoy the alpha text programming available when entering the talk groups. I live in the Charlotte NC area and enjoy clear transmissions 20 miles away. Thumbs up and I would encourage you to invest in this model if you are looking for a 800mhz scanner. PS...Make sure to get a 800mhz antenna from radio shack (about $25). Really helps on the reception!

Yepper for a non digital system, the 92, 93, 94, and 95 are very nice. The 92, 93, and 95's alpha tagging are very cool indeed.

I recently purchased a pro-95 Scanner and I love it. I am very new to scanners as a matter of fact this is the first one I have used. I can pick up tons of traffic on the freq. Posted on various websites. However because I am so new to this I really don’t think I am utilizing my scanner to its potential. I don’t know anything about trunking, spacing, or talkgroups. A lot of the terminology is lost to me. I have a difficult time understanding the darn manual, let alone a web page full of freq./talkgroups info. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can educate myself?

i hate to say it... but unless one of us lives near you... you will have to read the darn manual... thats how i learned to use all the scanners i have ever owned...

just a side note... if you actually do read the maunual... you will something learn something about your scanner that you never knew about before (happened to me numerous times when reading it)

I am thinking about a Pro-95. It seems like a very good deal right now and my area police went to trunking system about a year ago. I can pick up very little with my old scanner on police calls.

My question, though, is how long will it be before everybody starts going digital encoded? It will be my luck to buy a Pro-95 and then in 3-6 months everybody goes digital. I really can't afford the Pro-96.

Sounds like everyone really likes the Pro-95... I think I'll ask for it for Christmas.

Is a good choice. I bought mine a year and a half ago when an older scanner fizzled out. I'm looking to get a BC 296D next year when another nearby county goes digital.
