Hello everybody. I finally went out and bought a pro-96. I got the adapter and 2100mah rechargeable batteries. When I tried charging the batteries while operating the scanner, the scanner would only flash, like the batteries were dying. But the adapter worked plugged in without the batteries. So I went to radio shack and the manager told me I had to get the 9v 800ma power adapter to power the scanner and charge the batteries at the same time... Well this method worked but the scanner is extremely hot while charging the batteries. My question is, is this a bad idea? has anybody heard of this before?
Thank you
D

If the radio is getting extremely hot as you say then yes it's a bad idea, especially in an expensive item like the Pro-96. Do yourself a favor and get a decent external charger and use the black battery holder with the batteries when plugged in. It's not uncommon for the radios to get hot, and just a lot safer to get an external charger.
