We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

What is the newest CPU version of this scanner? What is the difference between each version, is there something an older version won't receive and a newer CPU will?

Then there is the DSP version but from what I understand it can be easily downloaded from the RadioShack's website.. Would I need special software to program the newer DSP version into the Pro-96?

According to the Wiki, the Pro-96 is rebanding supportable. Is this confirmed? In what way will I have to get it upgraded, by a downloadable new DSP version or have to send it to RS?
