Hi. I just got a Pro-96 and am trying to program it for Marin County Sheriff, in particular, though right now I'm in open mode.
The database lists multiple sites, in particular West Zone and East Zone. I've tried the control frequencies for both. (West is currently 488.7 and East is 488.85.) In 488.7, if I'm in Manual scan I can hear the control noise, and the scanner tells me I have between 80% & 99%. It also lists the sysid 7239. There's an "M36:" in front of that -- not sure what that means.
When scanning, the unit will occassionally stop and show a frequency (like 407.875) and a MOT (like 45616). I can see from the database that the 45616 is Sheriff Dispatch. Only problem -- I don't hear anything... (And yes, I have adjusted squelch).
I thought perhaps that I needed to try the other zone (East), but that actually gives me a much weaker signal -- though when I do see a transmission, the results are essentially the same as for 488.7.
As an additional test, I entered the San Quentin trunk (860.2625). On that, I do get reception and can see their talkgroup. They are Type 1 and analog, whereas MERA is Type II and digital -- if that somehow matters.
Finally, I just tried Caltrans and that works fine.
What am I missing here? Thanks for the help.
