I have a Pro-96 and it works. However, I am trying to reset the banks to original factory specs. About 3 of the banks show Md, DC, Va. I am trying to get the original banks including Florida etc. Thx.

The original banks data is very out of date. You'd be better off just clearing the scanner and purchasing one of the apps that supports that radio, assuming that the systems in your area (where are you? county/state is fine) are still supported by that radio. Then purchase a subscription to this site so you can download much more accurate data. Mike

This article from our wiki (links are always blue) has a section on how to reset the 96:

https://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/PRO-96_FAQ

Assuming here that the systems in your area are compatible with the 96...

This one will help you get started with programming. It has links for ARC96 and Win96 (the 2 software packages most used for this radio), and a link to our USB cable article which will give you some info on the cable you will need to connect the scanner and PC;

https://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Getting_Started_with_your_PRO-96_or_PRO-2096

I will leave it to others to suggest sources for the USB cable as RS has since left the scanner market, and I don't own that radio...Mike

As shown on this page from our database...

https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=2872

Loudoun county is on a Phase 2 system that the 96 can't handle. If you go down to the very bottom, you will find all the trunk systems in the area listed there. If that is what you want to hear, a new scanner is in order. I would go to our Virginia forum and ask some questions there about what scanners will work best on such a system. Local scannists are always a better resource for this kind of information.

Just to give you some ideas as to what models will trunk that system, go to section 1.3.2 of the following...

https://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/APCO_Project_25

Just click on the section number in the table of contents and you will be taken there. Good luck...Mike

The PRO-96 would be capable of receiving Virginia State Police on the STARS system, and would also receive West Virginia agencies on the SIRN system if you are in range. But as indicated above, there are newer systems in your area that it won't handle.

It will do 700 MHz but not Trunk Track them. If you enable the Expanded Frequencies using Win96 or ARC-96 you get the 380, and 700. But again, no trunking on them.
