I have the BC 780 XLT scanner and I need software to program this scanner. I've had it for a couple of years and I only programmed it once by hand (so tedious). I know that there's software out there but I'm looking for something a little more intuitive and powerful.

I have Escanner and dont like it. What's out there?

Kareem, ProScan is excellent software. You can also control and listen to your scanner remotely which is an added bonus.

I agree with brandon, great software. You can also use Audio Recording and Scanner over IP (broadcast live on the Internet). I think Bob is currently working on Web Import from these RR data pages.

Kareem,

ScanPro is much worse then E-Scanner Plus.

Do not pass go, do not collect $200 bucks, do not got to jail and run as fast as you can from ScanPro. You can't even copy/paste in ScanPro.

ProScan is by far superior...believe me, I have ScanPro 92, 2052 and 785D. They are all worthless, I also have E-Scanner Plus, because Butel ARC25D was yet to be released when the 785D hit the streets 4 years and 3 months ago. Two weeks later, ARC came out and I haven't looked back. However, Butel is not upgrading ARC780 beyond where it is at this time...ProScan is.

ScanControl is another great software for the 780.

ProScan is quite nice, and you can download a 30-day free trial.

Can any of thesoftware directly import frequency info from Radio Reference to the 780 or 785 scanner without copy/paste. I know Butel doesn't

ProScan is considering adding that capability. ScanControl does not do a direct import, but has a very good cut & past function that gets the job done. I think ScanControl is also working toward adding the RR-Import function.

ARC250D version 1.95 beta will import to the 250/785/296/796, but ARC780 does not and I don't think Gommert intends to upgrade ARC780 for Web Import.

ScanControl is currently working on improvements to paste data directly from a web page, but not import directly to software. I think Ken's intention is for the user to highlight a section of talkgroups or freqs from a web page and use Windows based editing (right click and select copy or Ctrl + C) then click in the associated cell in the software, then right click and select paste or press Ctrl + V.

ProScan is currently working on a direct import to the software from Radio Reference database pages. This would be selective by the user, i.e., by sites and selected TG's, similar to WinXX and ARC software. I'm sure this will include CC only options for Motorola Trunking .

ScanPro has not made any improvements from day 1, That would be 7 years ago for ScanPro-2052 and ScanPro-92 and they have never replied to any emails regarding this "lack of support".
