We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

I have read on the forum that the tag display defined via WIN96 does not display on the PRO2096 screen.

I am seeing some instances where the tag display DOES appear along with the Alpha Tag. It occurs in conventional mode in those cases where a PL tone is not established in WIN96. Conversely, when a PL tone is specified the scanner display shows the Alpha Tag followed by the PL tone.

I tried everything I can think of but cannot get the Alpha Tag and the overall bank tag to display if a PL tone is specified.

Is this normal behavior or am I just missing something?

That's normal behavior. A bank's alpha tag is only displayed for conventional channels where no CTCSS tone or DCS code is programmed/received. That is, it's never displayed for trunked transmissions, and it's never displayed for any conventional channel whose "mode" is either CT or DC.

Wow - that was fast!

Thanks, Don - I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure this one out.

Left of frequency in Win96 a line 3 tag can be very resourceful in identifying either trunk or conventional transmissions.
