You may see improvement by adjusting the Data Decode Thresholds for the system site(s) of interest.
Suggested New Settings:
Threshold Lo = 10%
Threshold Hi = 99%
Threshold Lo Sets the control channel decode % threshold for a site to be considered out of range, which will begin the process of looking for a new site (control channel). Default is
75.
Threshold Hi Sets the control channel decode % threshold for a site to be considered good when looking for a new site (control channel). Default is
95.
If trying to do this in EZ-SCAN software, you'll need to program in one of two ways:
1) Program in a "dummy site" with no frequencies and lock that site out. Change the Thresholds as indicated above for all sites.
2) Program in each individual control channel as a SITE. Change the Thresholds as indicated above for all sites.
Or you can just program in EZ-SCAN and adjust these settings manually using the scanner's menu settings.
In my experience, this greatly helps (but doesn't 100% solve) the Simulcast Distortion issue.
The Attenuation Setting may also help some.
