I have a Pro-95 and i'm having some issues installing the drivers for the USB cable. I insert the CD and a folder comes up with the items in on CD. I plug in the UBS cable into my computer and nothing happens. Does anybody have any ideas for what I could do? Im trying to use Win95.

Thanks for any help

I'm not sure it's supported on Windows 95. I see info for Windows 98 in the inf file but no info for 95.

I was having the same exact problem using XP Media edition. I did get the cable to work using the following steps. Plug cable into the USB port. A wizard will appear asking if you would like to connect to the web to find the driver. Select this option. A new window wil then appear with an option to load the driver disk. Choose this option and the cable will set up just fine.

Ok I am still having trouble getting the driver to install and use Win95. I have attatched pictures of what steps Im taking and what my computer is doing. My computer detects the USB cable and says its working properly but Win95 still does not detect it. If anybody has suggestions please inform me.

Thanks
Jason

Did you set the correct Comm port? When I was setting this up after I downloaded The WIn97 program I could not upload my data from the scanner. I found the USB Serial Converter in the Device Manager location and clicked on it. I then got the properties window and clicked on troubleshoot button which reinstalled the driver. After this was done, I noticed that next to the text USB Serial Converter in the Device Manager directorary, the port name was listed (com4).

I then opened the Win97 software and selected Configuration from the top tool bar. Once open, I selected Serial Port and selected 4 for the Comm port location this caused everything to run correctly.

If that doesn't work, I would contact Radio Shack at www.radioshack.com and click on the "Contact Us Anytime" link located at the bottom of the page under the heading "Need Assistance?"

They are quick at replying. I hope that you get this up and running.

When my scanner is connected and in clone mode, and I attempt to upload/download with the scanner, I get the same message as in the 8th picture. This only happens with ports 1,2, and 3. All the rest say unable to open port. (See picture below). I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Should I try it on another computer? Should I take it back for a new one? Shoud I just get my money and program it manually? I was really looking forward to using this with Win95. I have a file ready to download to the scanner but this god forsaken cable just doesnt want to cooperate. Please for the love of god! Help me!!!!

Thanks
Jason

One of the Device Manager screenshots shows the cable as COM3. It also has a yellow exclamation mark meaning it is not installed properly. Right click on the USB Serial Port entry and select properties to see what is wrong.

Looks ok in that screenshot and it is still COM3. Do uploading to the scanner and downloading from the scanner both fail?

J,M and J- I thought this would be a Com Port question but it's gone far beyond that.
I was gonna say the Win96 wants to run Com Port 2 but needs to be set to Com Port 4 to run here... Oh well, maybe it'll be some help somewhere...

Com Port

The most prevalent problem with this cable seems to be the Com Port setting.

On the Win95 screen under Configuration you have to change the Com Port number. The best way to do it is to start at Com Port 1 and try uploading.

If that does not work, change to Com Port 2 and repeat the process.

Continue changing the Com Port number until you find the correct one.

I installed my 20-047 RS USB cable yesterday. Instead of using the CD, I opted for online driver installation. OS is XP SP2. All worked well. Using Win95 for my Pro-95 scanner programming. I did the guess which com port approach and com4 was the winner. Good Luck.

Using a pro-164 with the 20-047A cable and Win97 V01.19 software. COM4 port set for everything. Getting: **CLONE MODE** Incorrect Model! Remove cable. The cable is flashing both LED's, and I have checked the drivers which are all up to date. Any help would be great. Thanx.
