Hello, I've been on this forum for a little while now and i have read hours on how to program the pro 97 scanner and the trucked channels and talk groups and all the fancy jive. Anyway i have had my scanner for a while now and when i first got it i was trying like hell to get it programed, i got win 97 read all about that how to work it and what not, all the cables. Long story short i never got any where i wanted, to put in police where i live, but nothing. So i put my pro 97 on my desk and didn't really do anything with it for months well i decided to try again today after blowing of the inch of dust and i just got done "trying" to program some stuff but nothing. Can someone PLEASE help me, i've read for hours on end and i still am TOTALLY lost with how to program this thing. When i use win 97 and load to my scanner it says it loaded but when i go in my scanner it's all the crap that comes pre-programed. Anyway can some one tell me if i'm missing a step i am seriously am going crazy and this is driving me NUTS

What system are you trying to monitor ? with win97 and a premium subscription to RR programming should be a snap. someone here can help but more info is needed.

Where do you live and what do you want to listen to. The Database and the software might be able to just about do it all for you.

Question also

I also have a question.. I am trying to program my pro-97 with frequencies for Charlotte/Mecklenburg County, NC. I am unsure how to use the database. I was able to download a .csv version of the file -- but win97 was unable to import it. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

Charlotte / Mecklenburg County is a large system so it needs to be broken up
Check out this p97 file and see how I broke it up

So do i just enter the frequency or do i enter the DEC/HEX? Because i'm getting the hang of the frequency enter i just can never keep track of them and what is the extra step to take when dealing with a trucked system?

Well you could simply use the file I posted here. Getting the Talk Groups in with Alpha Tags is much easier if you use the Win97 ability to grab the programming directly like I did.
You have to program in the frequencies with the set to MOT, then use PGM T and the arrow keys to enter each TG ID. It's much easier with the p97 file

Yes if it uploaded correctly just press scan.Actually it should begin when you turn it on. If you press the M it should lock onto the control channel press Scan to go back to scanning.
You should also see L-P Public Safet and Conventional alternating on the bottom line of the display.

Ok so i think i'm going in the right direction, so i uploaded the file to 97 but the file is setup to be bank one but my scanner only scans bank 1 and 8 and if i get rid of those two it says all the others are locked out, did i miss a step?

Doesn't sound like it uploaded it should erase everything programmed into the scanner except the new upload.
The p97 has it set up in banks 0 and 1 O is L-P Public Safet 1 is Conventional and only has one frequency.

It ill say Clone Mode when you plug the cable in, then when it uploads you should see black bars filling in on the display.

O this is good to know, so the clone mode is good but when it uploads there isn't any black bars, ill have to check the comm port. But its safe to say that i am on the right road when it uploads and black bars are on the screen?
