As mentioned above, the free Sentinel Software that is included (on the SD card) when you purchase the scanner...... but best to download a copy from the Sentinel link on this page to be sure you have the latest version:

Also, Sentinel is the only software that can update the main database, and is the only convenient way to update firmware.

Agree with guys above, however you have nothing to lose by giving ProScan a try as well. Fully functional 30-day free trial and you get streaming & remote control of the 536 in addition to programming.

Sentinel but if you want the extra bells and whistles (recording, logging, web server and remote control) then the most user friendly is PROSCAN.

For programming, settings, and database updates, I use Sentinel. But for everything else--remote control, recording, and logging--ProScan is pretty tough to beat.
