Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

How do you program a Capacity Plus system into an XPR 5550 or 7550? I managed to get the TGIDs set up, but I can’t seem to figure out how to get the site frequencies entered in.

The site frequencies must be added in the Channel Pool as Capacity Plus Voice Channels (right-click to add new). In the zone where your Cap+ channels will be, you add a new Capacity Plus Personality or personalities based on how many groups you will have (limited to 16 on an XPR6550, dont know about 5550 or 7550), then just add in all the group or private ID's, RX group lists (if any) and plug them in.

Now that's a very condensed version, I am only assuming that was the steps you were having trouble with. This video is very informative and helped me get started with Cap+ https://youtu.be/OveMxxEilfQ

Thanks. That's exactly the answer I needed. Now I just have to wait until tomorrow to see if it actually works.

After you enter the RF frequencies into the Channel Pool, you have to create a Voice List: Capacity Plus > Voice > right-click > Add > Capacity Plus Voice List. Move the RF frequencies from the Available column to the Members column, and make sure they're the right LCNs (the numbers under the title "IDs" are actually the LCN numbers).

The talk group IDs are called "Contacts" (or sometimes digital contacts). Go to Contacts > Capacity Plus > right-click > Add > Group Call. Enter the talk group ID number(s) you want. Now add a new Zone, then right click on the Zone name > Add > Capacity Plus Personality. Fill in all the drop-downs and make sure you choose the Voice List and one of contacts that you just created.

If you want RX-only, check the RX Only box, but then you need a way to tell it what talk group to RX on. So create a Group RX list with only 1 talk group ID in it: RX Group Lists > Capacity Plus > right-click > Add > RX Group List. Move one of the available TGs to the Members column.

Back to the Zone channel under the RX side, from the Group List drop-down, choose the group list you just created.

And I believe the XPR 7550 allows up to 160 channels per zone, but the Scan Lists, RX Group Lists, and Flexible RX List allow allow only 16.
