• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

While it does LTR, I'm needing some assistance on porgramming this radio for conventional use. I've got the repeater programming down but I can't figure for the life of me how to make it do a "talkaround". I know the radio will do it because before I uploaded to it, it would TX on 853.485. I can't figire out how to make it do this. I just need it on a simplex T/A channel.
THanks for anyhelp you can give,

Press F10 while you are in the system screen for your conventional channel. This will bring up Group Data, scroll down to where it says Talk Around and press the space bar to change it to yes.

How good is this radio? I picked one up at a garage sale without any manual. This radio is in great shape but I have not powered it up.I couldnt find a whole lot of information on the radio unless I wanted to buy one.I thought it would be a great radio to use on the 900 mhz ham band.Heck I offered a dollar for it.I would like to find a manual for it off the internet.
Thanks,

I sold mine. You can't use it EASILY for the 900 MHz ham bands. You program it by FCC channel numbers, not frequencies. Then, you have to save the file locally and use a hex editor to modify the frequencies. Reall cryptic pain in the butt. If you're interested in selling yours, i'd make you an offer as I'm wanting to tinker with it again. I got rid of mine back in July.

I am looking to program the scan list for conventional operations, except I can see to add or delete channels on the fly. Anyone got any ideas?
