I can't seem to get this to work so I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm sure it's something simple but, hey, I'm not succeeding so I'm admitting it here. haha

I'm trying to load the first frequency (link below; listed as ONF-LAW) in my 996XT. I have it in there but when I get in range I just pick up constant data and have to hit lockout to ignore it. What do I need to do?

Arkansas National Forests, Parks, and State Parks Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Any and all help appreciated!

The first thing is to make sure that the audio type is set to Digital in ARC-XT. You can change that via the menu system as well, if you don't want to reprogram the entire system.

The second thing is to make sure that it's not encrypted, which it might be. If that's the case, you are out of luck.

No, it's not encrypted. Or, at least it wasn't last time I heard it via my Pro-106.

I think I may have figured it out. I had it intermingled with other conventional frequencies. I think I have to create an entirely new 'system' for that one frequency so I can set it as a P25 conventional instead of just conventional. Correct? Is that what you meant by make sure it's set to digital? Or did you mean the mode be on Auto?

Thanks

I meant the "Audio Type" setting in ARC XT should be set to "Digital". Not mode.

You don't have to set up a different system, unless you want to set it up as a single channel trunk system. The only advantage to that is that you can see individual unit ID's. Some people like to do that, but it's not all that interesting to me. You can mix analog and digital conventional channels in the same system, I do it all the time. The only difference between digital and analog is that you have to set the Audio Type to Digital for a P25 channel. If you know the NAC, you can enter that as well. In ARC-XT it's a bit counter intuitive because Audio Type and NAC are not next to PL/DPL which is where logic would dictate it should be. I don't know why Butel did it that way, but they did. Look over towards the right side of the screen and you'll see Audio Type and NAC after "Alert Level".

Well, as is sometimes the case I feel stupid after asking - I never saw that until you said to go over to the right end. Guess I was looking over it. I have set it to Digital now (it was blank so I figure it was either defaulting to analog or just picking up either). Next time I head up that way - which may be a couple or more weeks - I'll see if it works. Obviously it should.

Am I correct that the Mode should just be on Auto?
