I’m running Windows 10 on my laptop. I can’t figure which ProScan version to download. I don’t know if Windows 10 is above Windows 7 SP1 or XP.
Thanks

I am looking for software for my 'bcd996p2' scanner. according to the page on this site proscan is the only one I could find that supports this scanner??? Freescan might also work but said it had to be above version 2.18 which I do not know what that means. anyhow, what are your suggestions for this scanner? Thanks

Freescan worked with my BCD325p2. But, If you want to listen to NXDN/DMR systems, Freescan will not work. I switched to Proscan, for this reason. Freescan, For all intensive purposes, is 'dead in the water'. It is a functional program. But, It has not been updated in years. The guy who wrote the program. For whatever reason, stopped at 2.18b.

Freescan website indicates "experimental support" for the 996p2 & like the poster above me mentioned, it hasn't been updated in about 5.5 years. I'd be leary of that if I were you & instead go with Proscan. Updates are released regularly & Bob is very responsive on these forums

Thank you Chris and Whiskey for your fast response. I was leaning towards Proscan for the reasons Chris mentioned, but thought it didn't hurt
to ask for other opinions, and I see a lot of people on here use Proscan.
So again thanks for the help.

I prefer Proscan also, but ARC-XT software from Butel also supports the BCD996P2. Both Proscan and Butel software have free trials.

I used to use the ARC programs (and liked them) but switched to ProScan because it does the pretty much the entire line up of Uniden scanners with the one program. Also, once I started with my remote radios and logging and recording, there was no interest in changing. I had a couple of things I wanted to be able to do with the program and Bob was able to work it into an update.

There is another thing to think about. Bob(ProScan) is here. But Butel(ARC-XT) is not. Butel is a multi-national corporation. Bob's customer service, is unmatched. Butel can't match that. Uniden's Sentinel, is only for the 436/536HP, and like Butel, you are dealing with a corporation, not a human being.

Kudos Bob (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)

But not as a single individual.
Again, that is incorrect. He most definitely responds in the forums as a single individual the same as Bob does for Proscan, have you read any of his posts?... Gommert Buijsen (Buysen) is his name.

Proscan is a company... represented in the forums by it's owner Bob Aune under the Proscan user name.

Butel Software is a company... represented in the forums by it's owner Gommert Buijsen under the Butelsoftware user name. How is that not the same?

Check this link, and scroll down to his Bio:

Bob is Proscan
Gommert is Butel.
