I had my original SDS100 worked on and now have a replaced model with a different ESN. The new ESN has three more digits than a regular ESN, and the DMR and NXDN from the old radio have been cloned into this radio. I'n considering Provoice...so I now register this new ESN and go from there? @JoeBearcat

Do you actually have a Provoice system/site near you that you want to monitor?

Provoice is a dying technology and if you don't have a specific system to monitor - don't bother with it...

Yes, he does. Only a handful of talkgroups, but there are a few.

When you go to buy the pro voice key, you'll see the first 3 or 4 digits already beside the box where you enter the ESN. Do not enter the dash, the digits to the right of the dash are the checksum.

Add the new/replaced scanner SN/ESN to your uniden account,
Purchase the needed upgrade for the scanner (after successfully adding it to your account)..

Both ESN's should have the same number of digits:

The electronic serial number (ESN) - available through the menu system in the scanner has 14 digits. It's followed by a dash, and then the 3 digit checksum.

The serial number (SN) - on the model label on the back of the scanner has 12 digits.

Can you clarify "The new ESN has three more digits than a regular ESN"?

Are you talking about the 3-digit checksum? (which is not part of the ESN)

The DMR/NXDN keys from your old unit will not work on the new one.

If this was a Uniden repair the new scanner should have come with those modes enabled. If it did not, contact Customer Service.
