I have a Pryme 6M portable that I purchased in the early 2000's. I haven't used it in a while and am getting the following message on the screen when I press the PPT button: POFF. The screen lights also stay on and the only way I can get this off is to shut-off the radio and turn it back on. The 12V battery is good and shows a little over 13V. I've read the manual and can't find a key to the screen messages. I have not done a total reset, but will do that if no other options. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Gregg, N2UUP

Are you sure the battery is good? It might show 12V, when there is no load, but transmitting could pull more current than the battery can supply, and the voltage drops.

That makes sense. It IS acting like a battery problem. I can try to power the radio with external 12V power and see what happens. Thanks!

That is a very low capacity battery compared to today's radios and probably is not able to maintain voltage. I have three radios based on the same design but different frequencies, 222, 2 meter, and the 6 meter. They have the ability to also use an AA alkaline case and a 7.2 volt NiMH battery and there is a sequence of buttons that changes the radio setting to the battery. If you can't find a manual, I will try to find mine
