I know this video is like 8 years old. But I think PSP really needs to dump this system already and go with PA P25 system.

Uhh, they already are on the STARNet P25 system across 98% of the commonwealth at this point. It takes time to build out all of the sites and install/program thousands of new radios, cut over to a completely different system, etc. Considering the scope of the migration from OpenSky to ASTRO 25, they have made remarkable progress, and are on schedule to decommission the OpenSky system later this year.

Besides, what does it even matter? PSP is 100% secure, so it's not as if you can listen, no matter what system they're using. 🤦‍♂️

Well yes I know that they’re on the new system but it would be nice if we could monitor them so we could look out for their safety. My friend was the one that told me to post this and I tried to explain to him that they were on a new system but you can’t monitor them and you probably never will be able to and he tried to tell me no this is not old. So I now feel like the dumb one and posting a video that he thinks they’re still on that network and they’re not.

It is ironic watching this old video. Not sure why they used a washington county fire chief to talk about PSP dead spots. Not like they used the old system. And their radios were VHF cdm in the video!

Actually West Finley had PSP radios available on the old vhf system IIRC.Reason being they worked better than the old 46.40 county lowband in use at the time especially out that far. Now on vhf high band repeater no problem for them at all. It did not happen often they used the psp radio but I do remember a few times they would come up on the psp radio in Washington and Greene County. Also they had maybe Brooke,Marshall, and Ohio County WV radio's as well for mutual aid. Will see if I can dig up the old run sheets.

Well maybe on old mobile to mobile as it was usually verboten to program the TX of any (Police, fire , ems)radio with their main channels A-F. Seen many police vehicles were all they could talk to PSP was with M-M or Natl PD.
