Is this frequency still being used in the simplex mode? I no longer hear transmissions on this frequency. Our cars use TAC-1 now. I do, however, hear a security check being run on 154.7550. Seems strange.

It varies by area. It is still used in NE PA in simplex mode, but not as often as it was several years ago. Now, I hear the base use it to contact cars in another troop, and it is used as a command post freq for the Pocono 500. Generally, the cars use Tac 1 & 2 the way they used to use MM.

I just heard traffic on M-M today. Norristown CDC was talking to a PSP Foglesville car about sending a PSP Hamburg car out to assist...ssuming it was an issue on I-78.

While I can't say I even pay attention to them any more, PSP used to conduct a radio check several times per day between the Skippack Station, Norristown CDC, and the Limerick Generating Station (nuke plant in Montco).

On a side note, the LGS control room also has a radio link to the Montco 911 center on the county's 800 system. The checks here either precede or follow the checks with PSP.

This frequency is used heavy in our area as Repeater 1 & 2 also Mobile to Mobile...

A suggestion! The common PL186.2 is not wide spread use on this frequency, Keep your CTCSS OFF for this frequency PL123.0 and a few other have been found in use and confirmed PSP use.

TAC 1 is also used heavy in our area but keep a ear out on all, sometimes closing your bank to PL186.2 you might miss some activity.

Do all state police patrol units operate on this frequency? Can I hear it from Berlin, NJ. I'll try that freq and see if it works, but if it doesn't I'll just be curious why.

All Pennsylvania SP use it, but it it NOT a universal SP freq (NJSP does not use it). 155.4750 is a universal SP Mutual Aid Freq, but is not very active.

Steveradio,

Other than the known 186.2 and 123.0 - what other PLs for 154.755 have you come upon....and how were the channels being used?

Hello;

Mobile to Mobile Ch.11 PL186.2
Repeater # 1 PL123.0
Repeater # 2 PL186.2

I have also picked off PL179.9 in use on 154.7550Mhz..

In my area the Repeaters are used instead of TAC 1/2 due to the wide coverage areas they patrol. Most cars do not make it on simplex and the repeaters are used along with "Chat". I believe the PL179.9 is used by the Department of Justice units?

Steveradio,

You are right. PSP has a repeater with output on that freq. and a PL of 123.0 in the Lehigh Valley. The repeater location is on FLint Hill, and the location is shared with the State Parks dept.

Flint Hill is a real high spot and covers very well on VHF way down into Bucks County and Way up into Lehigh, Northampton, and even Berks County.
