Thanks for the notice. Mine erased all my data, but I just took turns upgrading between my PRO 163 and PSR 400 so one always had the data.

Sorry, I thought that would be in a release notes file, I don't see one in there with the files. The upgrade WILL delete your current configuration of your scanner. For those that don't have software, you could use my PSR300DL utility to back up your configuration before doing the upgrade, and then restore it to the radio. PSR300DL is free to use...

Upgraded my PSR-400 without issue. It erased all my data, but it does warn about that in the accompanying .pdf information file.

Upgrading your radio will result in the loss of any programming that you have
stored. We recommend that you save your work before proceeding with the
upgrade using a third party scanner programming software application.

I just had a weird thing happen. I did the upgrade on my psr 300. It does erase all the programming. I opened up win97, clicked upload to psr 300/400 and got the incorrect cable message. I have two 20-047 cables and got the same message several times with either one. just for the hell of it I clicked on upload to pro163/164 and it worked.

The 1.4 update changed the protocol to make the PSR-300/400 clone compatible with the Pro-163/164. You must have had a CPU firmware version prior to 1.4 in your radio before.

You are right mike, I just checked my psr 400 which I have not done yet, and it shows 1.03. I have 1.04 in a folder, just never got around to doing the upgrade and forgot about it. Thank's

It sounds like you're running an old version of Win97, as well (given the things you "clicked on") - Win97 was changed a long time ago to support the PSR-300 vs. PRO-164 versioning differences that hit between firmware 1.03 and 1.04.

Also, Win97 v1.20 supports the 'rebanding' changes in the scanner's 1.06 firmware.

No, it states in the instructions to use the version that is compatible with your original boot version.

The boot loader (Version 1.00 or 1.01) cannot be user upgraded. Which version of the updater you use depends on what version of the boot loader you have. The scanner will tell you which version it has when you turn the scanner on while pressing the PGM key. Once you know the boot loader version, use the updater that matches that.

Skipping Upgrades

My PSR-300 was version GF1.00 and the Firmware was still G 1.02. I found after trial and error that I had to do the G 1.04 upgrade first and then do the G 1.07. I could not go direct from G 1.02 to G 1.07.
I hadn't seen this mentioned before...that you can't skip upgrades
DMC.
