I'm thinking of getting a psr-600 how do you like it?
Does the PSR-600 have any features that the RS PRO-197 doesn't? I'm thinking of getting a 197 next year, but not if the 600 has better features.
Thanks
Mark
if you live in a high rf enviroment <like a fm / or pager broadcast tower nearby> it will overload like a friggin' crack whore, especially on air/vhf-hi band's>. i sold my psr-600, and bought a bcd996xt.
i've since made the mistake again ,and bought a psr-400 <the 600's analog couisin>. although it still overloads like a crack whore, i use it mainly for spectrumsweeper, where it behaves somewhat well, on a indoor antenna.
If you would have tried the (ATT) attenuator on your objects that suffered from overload, you would have been happier.

while i somewhat agree with what you said, attenuator does not cut the crap out on all the frequencies that i monitor. the other thing is, while using a scanner that has a global attenuator <yes, i know the psr-400/600 have a selectable one>, i don't want to attenuate all of my frequencies. like for instance, yesterday i put all of the fire related spectrum into my pro-2006. everything worked like a charm, until i heard newark n.j. fd <154.130>. they were coming in all garbled. i'm about 40 air mile's from newark. i hit the attenuator <global>. this brought newark in l&c,but cut down the incoming signal strenght on several other frequencies. yes,i know about filter's. i'll tell you, the world of scanning is no longer a passive hobby, for those that are really into it. take's a lot of time and effort in the logistic's dept.
for whatever it's worth, i've enjoyed most of the challenge's.
