I downloaded a trial copy of PSREdit500 and want to make sure I understand how to mange the .bin files as related to the 20 possible V-Folders.

Is it correct that one .bin file can only represent one V-Folder? If you want to program data for all 21 V-Folders, then you will have to have 21 separate .bin files? Assuming that is correct, then I take it the process is to create the .bin file, transfer it to the scanner active memory and then copy it to an empty V-Folder?

Related to my understanding, how would you copy the contents mapped to let say Scan List 3 in V-Folder 5 to Scan List 1 of V-Folder 2?

The reason I ask the last question is I can see a need to duplicate scan lists in the V-Folders since some of the frequencies I listen to are "global" in nature. For example, all of the AZ Game and Fish mobile frequencies apply state wide and all of the ham radio simplex frequencies apply nation wide. So if I have a V-Folder for the Phoenix area and a second V-Folder for the Tucson area, and I want the game and fish frequencies or the ham simplex frequencies in active memory while monitoring Phoenix or Tucson, then I will have to have that scan lists duplicated in both V-Folders.

I would be interested in hearing what process others use to manage V-Folders and related issues.

Thanks.

Yes, you would need to create a separate .bin file for each V-Scanner configuration you want to store, however you don't need to load it into working memory and then store it to a V-Scanner folder. You can use the "Enter V-Scanner Mode" option on the Radio Menu to manipulate the V-Scanner folders.

There's no way to do that in the scanner, however in PSREdit500, under the Import menu, there's an option to import information from another .bin file. That option will allow you to pull trunked systems and conventional objects from other files.

I have a number of V-Scanner folders for the MPSCS here in Michigan depending on what I'm doing at the time. The above is the method I use to manage them.
