I will be staying in Quartzsite for several months and am trying to find the PD and SO freqs. Are they still the listed conventional freqs or have they joined a trunked system, possibly the Yuma system? Thanks for any help. I could also use the BLM LE freqs as I'm staying on BLM land.
Thanks,
Gerry

I found out this evening that the QPD is now on the Yuma trunked system, so I'm looking for a talkgroup.

If I was staying in Quartzsite for a few months, I believe I could find something of interest at any of the following RRDB Sites:

Arizona Department of Public Safety Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
Military Air Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
U.S. Government Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
Yuma County, Arizona (AZ) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
Marine Corps Air Station - Yuma - P25 Trunking System, Yuma, Arizona - Scanner Frequencies
Yuma Proving Grounds Trunking System, Yuma, Arizona - Scanner Frequencies
Yuma Regional Communications System, (YRCS) Trunking System, Yuma, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies
https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?action=fle&stid=4&en=QUARTZSITE, TOWN OF
https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?action=fle&stid=4&en=EHRENBERG FIRE DIST

Finding frequencies that reference Quartzsite "specifically" are very rare.

I've checked all of them and can not find the talkgroups for Quartzsite PD. I have lots of stuff programmed in my 436, but am specifically looking for the talkgroups for the PD and SO in this area. They apparently recently moved from conventional to trunking on the Yuma system. Also, the fire department is in the process of moving over as well. Thanks for the lists though...

My thought after searching is that Quartzsite:

1) Has no dedicated Law Enforcement Agency, or

2) Has a dedicated Law Enforce Agency that is actually a mis-named Security Guard endeavor (probably using GMRS or FRS radios), or

3) Has a dedicated Law Enforcement Agency whose operational frequencies have never been added to the RRDB (by folks like you and me).

After further searching:

Town of Quartzsite, Arizona
and Police

Looks like 3) above is the best guess. Maybe pay them a visit (Don't waste your time at the reception desk). Make friends, buy someone a good lunch, etc., good luck. If you find info that is not in the RRDB, remember to notify a DB Administrator.

#3 is probably correct. I am a retired police officer and actually asked one of the officers for their frequency. He said they had recently changed radio systems and had joined the Yuma trunking system which is used by 14 counties. When I asked about a talkgroup number all I got was a blank stare. I'm sure someone will come up with it eventually because even though Quartzsite is a town of only 3000 people that number swells to almost three-quarters of a million for several months in the winter due to the influx of snowbirds in their RV's...of which I'm one. So, the search continues....thanks for your help.

Sorry, can't stop. Another idea, depending on your scanner. Looking at the Site Locations for the YRCS in the RR Frequency DB, the ones that cover the Quartzsite location are: "Cunningham (W of Quartzite)" and "Parker Mountain".

Set up your scanner to monitor the YRCS with only those two Sites active, turned on, or not avoided, etc. Use whatever method your scanner has available for "Wild Cards", "Search", "Discovery", "Compare to Database", etc., to try to discover TGs not found in the RR DB.

They are licensed for 154.040 and 155.835, a renewal was issued for them a month ago. I would try there first.

Since they do have a police department it is possible that they are dispatched by the La Paz County Sheriff, try 158.730 and TG 205 on the Yuma digital system. Also try 155.310 and 155.700. Even though they show as "Depreciated" they may actually still be in use, either as a supplement to the trunked system, a fill-in channel or a go-to channel.

I took a ride out there twice this year specifically to listen for active frequencies/talkgroups. If they're on the YRCS, they're encrypted. Quartzite PD and La Paz County Sheriff both. Some of the talkgroups have the dispatcher in the clear, with the officers/deputies encrypted, some are fully encrypted.
I believe another member who lives in that area has stated the same in the past here on the forums.
