Again, was is happening on Radio Zone 33 has nothing to do with "merging frequencies." As radioman2001 suggests in post #13 above, the geographic area covered by Zone 33 (consisting of the 109th and the 111th PCTs) is too large to cover effectively from a single site, therefore two repeaters - one within the confines of each precinct - are simulcast. It is conceptually the same idea as Traffic and Traffic-Staten Island, SOD, and SOD-SI, and Citywide 1, 2, and 3 and their respective SI simulcasts, except on a much smaller scale (attempting to cover two precincts, as opposed to the entire City). One will hear the same thing coming over on 477.0625 as they will hear on 482.6125, just, depending on where one may physically be, one could sound better then the other.
