I’m trying to redo my safe-t system in my 996t using freescan because I only live about 2 miles from the transmitter in Delaware Co and I’m getting a lot of dropouts, choppy calls & some people I can hardly hear (low audio). After importing the system from RR it comes up as mot type II/P25 and under it, I have a few general boxes I can check such as ‘use Motorola end code , use Motorola digital end code and enable I-call’ should I check all these? I programmed this scanner years ago and at the time, Delaware county had 13 frequencies and now it shows 8 with 2 of them being control channels so I don’t know if having the extra 5 frequencies is causing my issue or not. Also in the columns where you put all the target id’s, I have the option to make the audio type analog digital or all, I had it set to ‘all’ before so I don’t know if safe-t is all digital or not. Sorry for such a newbie question. My scanner has firmware 3.02.00 installed

Sounds like you're trying to program it as a Motorola Type II system with P25 digital. SAFE-T is a true P25 Phase I system, not Type II. Try programming it as a P25 system and see if that works.

Using FreeSCAN and the 996T for SAFE-T, the System Type should be Mot Type II/P25. The Site Type should be Mot P25/P25 Standard. My 996T also has 3.02.00 which is the latest firmware. You only need the 2 control channel frequencies. System and site types of P25 Standard (Digital-XT) are used only for the XT and P2 scanners. The audio on all of the talkgroups is digital. If you set the Audio Type to Digital Only, the scanner doesn't need to determine if the audio is analog or digital and can begin decoding immediately.

the 'trunk system setup' has it as 'Mot type II/P25' but my site setup has it as 'Mot p25/p25 standard'...sorry guess I was looking at the wrong tab when i wrote 'mot type II/P25'. After pulling my data off my scanner that I had on there for years, it looks like I did have it set the same way I just imported it from RR. except I had 15 Frequencies instead of the 8 thats listed now for Delaware County

Thanks tvengr... I guess somewhere over the years...Delaware Co went from 15 frequencies to 8...heres a screen shot of the 15 freqs I had on my site setup compared to the 8 I just imported from RR

well after rebuilding the site/system and uploading it to my scanner, things seem to be a lot better with the audio. Thanks for the help
