Is it possible to record an object (assuming Recording is enabled in Global settings & also for the specific object) while listening to other scanlists, meaning that the scanlist with the recordable object is currently not selected for scanning? In other words, can I record objects that I don’t want to listen to at the moment? (I will stop here as I just got myself confused with my own question!).

No you must be listening to, meaning hearing audio from, the object you are recording. If you aren't hearing the audio neither is your scanner.

Only if you have a scanner with a 'line out' socket that you are recording and another scanner that you are listening to.
