question about weather

I have learned a good deal about programming my 396XT by reading and mostly trial and error.
One thing I have not been able to find. How do I get fast access to my weather channel without going thru the menu and doing weather search?

Isn't there a way to assign a quick key or something?

I also have learned I can not use the alert function due to the dreaded drop out of transmissions every few seconds.

So, if I can not use it as an auto alert, I would like to have one handed access to listen manually.

Can anyone help?

Just program the correct weather frequency and plug it in the regular memory, then lock it out but remember what channel you put it in so you can have fast access yo it

Please forgive me if I am a little dense
but wouldn't that still require more than tapping one button?
I may be asking for something the unit can not do.

I am just use to my old 200 that had a weather button on it

Well, I thought that would help. Yes you do press more than one button, but the scanner doesnt have the weather button? And if not that would be the best suggestion what I stated above. Just trying to help

It has a button at the bottom that says WX (it is also the zero key)
When I hit that key, it gives me the fast beep....

Just wondering how to maybe use that key to hear the weather.

There should be a function key on the side and press that then th wx button
