Paul why was the 330 pulled from the market? I thought it was a pertty cool radio.

One other thing. How lond is the high end product cycle? Can we expect to see somthing new along the lines of a top of the line HT to replace the 396 within the next year or so?
Just wondering. What ever uniden does next in the form of a hand held will be in my hands the ver day it is available. Not that I don't like the 396...I just want more..
Thanks

The 330 sure had a short product life cycle!

I doubt that Uniden is willing to release it's future product plans like that. That is probably a closely guarded corporate secret.

We'll only know about a 396 replacement when it is officially announced by Uniden, and not a minute earlier.

I hope they announce a pre-release message soon so that we can all begin to drool over it early. :)

So a new scanner is anounced. Everyone wants it.

Now the pre-release thread is sticky'd. Gotta have it now. We want photos, specs, dates,...people even keep track of when the boat is getting here.

Then it's "when is it arriving in Ft. Worth?" Whose taking pre-orders. When do dealers start shipping ?

Next, it's the first person to get their paws on it posting a review. Now the thread explodes and triples in length.

Yada yada.

Now more people have their scanner. People are noticing a bug or a defect in the scanner. Now the scanner goes back and you wait a month, or you wait for a firmware update.

Now the pre-release thread is closed and the post-release thread fun begins. Every molecule of every pro and con is discussed while everyone waits for the bug fix....

Then they come out with a newer better version. You're kickin' yourself for not waiting in the first place.

Now another new scanner is announced and everyone wants it........

scanners ARE our version of shoes n purses. Next scanner makers will be coming out with new models every spring to make us want to buy. And if we still have last years models we are out of style hehe

scanners are like microsoft windows. There is no way I am going to buy Vista until at least SP1 or later so they can work out the bugs. Let the fools buy the scanners and fight the bugs. After they have them working to do what i want, or it is obvious they are not going to do what I want, then I make a decision to buy or not. Like the old song, "fools rush in".

How true! I've learned that lesson the hard way. I should've learned that from the 250!

After hearing about the BR330T being discontinued and noticing some places already out of stock, I purchased one just the other day. I think it is an excellent radio and I like the wider coverage, especially the AM from 100khz and the TV. I was debating on whether to buy one for quite some time before though.

It would be great if Uniden were planning on releasing a replacement and an improvement for this radio incorporating all of the features and fixes we have asked for. I really doubt any statement will be made regarding their future plans though but I am sure there are very good reasons for discontinueing this radio.
