• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Chokes

They ay RF chokes.

Radio Shack, most any electronics/computer store will have clamp on models available.

They both keep RF out of the power supply and suppress AC/switcher noise from power supply to the unit.

Various sizes, ferrite materials for different frequencies

the chock meant to cut down on interference. is there model number or place i can get those?

Digi-Key sells these. Called chokes. Have ordered several from them with great service. Really good to keep stray RF out of power line.

Some folks also call them filters. If you bought 2, it's money well spent.

They're used more than one thinks. On my Kenwood in the car, there's one (a big one) on the power line coming from the battery and one on the remote line from the radio to the control head on the console.
