Does any one know what that item on uniden newer ac adapters is called?

the chock meant to cut down on interference. is there model number or place i can get those?

Chokes

They ay RF chokes.

Radio Shack, most any electronics/computer store will have clamp on models available.

They both keep RF out of the power supply and suppress AC/switcher noise from power supply to the unit.

Various sizes, ferrite materials for different frequencies

Digi-Key sells these. Called chokes. Have ordered several from them with great service. Really good to keep stray RF out of power line.

Some folks also call them filters. If you bought 2, it's money well spent.

They're used more than one thinks. On my Kenwood in the car, there's one (a big one) on the power line coming from the battery and one on the remote line from the radio to the control head on the console.
