I have a R20 that I programmed using ARC20 software from Butel. I wasn't happy with the way I had configured the bands so I changed them in the software. Before I uploaded the new config, I wanted to reset the scanner back to its factory settings, so I followed the instructions in the manual to do so. Now I can't switch to the TV band! I'm following the instructions in the manual but it's as though the scanner has forgotten it can do that! HELP!! What have I done wrong?

I don't have the R20, but if it is like my R5, the "TV" frequencies are loaded into a bank of frequencies and are not in Rom. Your description is quite accurate, the scanner has forgotten how to do that. I think you have a few options: You could look for a copy of the file you need in places such as Yahoo groups for your radio. You could find a list of the frequencies (maybe in your owner's manual) and enter them into the radio. Unfortunately, You will lose the ability to receive TV audio as soon as the stations in Canada "upgrade" to digital TV. I'm not looking forward to that because when it happens, I will lose one TV station for sure and maybe both Canadian TV stations that I can pick up now.

Just doublechecking here - hoping that you don't have a bad receiver...

On my R20, If you tap MR/s.MW multiple times, does it not change between a memory channel, TV band, and then WX band? (Just a light tap, and not a lengthy hold)

This got me at first since I associate switching bands with the VFO, and not by pressing the memory MR button multiple times. In fact, until you mentioned it, I had forgotten how to get to TV and WX, since I normally only toggle back and forth between the VFO and MR - and had no reason to push MR multiple times. :)

When I do the factory reset on my R-20 (the unblocked version), it's a COMPLETE wipe - all the TV and WX stuff goes away too! I need to re-load it using the Icom CS-R20 software.....

Just did a factory reset on a normal R20. TV and WX band survive. Not sure TV analog audio is going to be very useful these days, and there are only 10 noaa weather channels you could pop into a memory manually if you had to. :)

Sorry for the delay in replying. Before I did the factory reset, I could tap MR/s.MW multiple times to switch between memory, TV band, FM and AM radio. (my model is a US one so the WX band isn't present). Since the factory reset...nothing. Oddly, I had done a factory reset months before, when I first got the R20 (it was used and had memory channels I had no use for) and the TV/FM/AM survived. I'm stumped.

Does anyone know what the default frequencies were so I can put them back in? And where the heck would I even put them?

Thanks
