Today I decided I was going to do the R820T HF modification, RTL-SDR Direct Sampling Mode - rtl-sdr.com once done I tried it out. All I was successful at was tuning in the 530 Khz to the 1700 khz band. At least I know it works, couldn't get anything before. I don't know if you would call this a successful modification or not as I didn't pickup much else between 100 Hz and 24 Mhz. I suppose if I had a proper HF antenna that would probably help, seeing as this is day one on this mod., I have an excuse, better antenna to follow as I read up on them. Oh, I did pickup a lot of FM stations barging in, I guess I will have to get a filter and eliminate them. Mostly I was just curious as to how well the dongle would do in the AM band.

P.S. If you try this modification be very careful as SMT is very difficult to work with, I consider myself very lucky that I was actually successful at doing the soldering job, If you aren't careful you can dislodge the tiny little capacitor that you are trying to solder a wire to, and need I say that if you move it you will probably not get it back into place.

Just want to confirm the mod you did was the RTL2382u chip Pin 1 to c34 and pin 2 to c33 along with the patched rtl driver. I might do this tomorrow on one of my rtl's

The mod was done to an RTL R820t 2832u dongle. I got the mod off of You Tube and there was only jumper cable.

I downloaded the patch put it in SDR version 1331. I first ran the patch using my R820t 2832u dongle ( that already has the jumper modification ) and I didn't experience any difference than before in that I can still pick up that AM commercial band. So I plugged in my R820t2 dongle in and ran it. The R820T2 didn't pickup anything in the 0 to 30 Mhz band?

Next I ran both dongles in regular mode ( above 30 Mhz ) and couldn't receive any signal. I removed the patch from SDR and same results no signal. So I would say that the patch must be for a certain version of SDR Sharp, and one of those version won't be 1331 LOL.

P.S. Still need to know how to filter out the FM band signals as they come in very strong on the 0 to 24 Mhz band.

The screen shot I saw was with Version 1186, so your right it's not gonna work with the newer version of SDRSharp.

And I will also say that it has rendered any version of SDR Sharp that I had in my Documents folder inoperative.
