Radio shack 197 pro no internet

Hi.
I bought a NIB radio shack PRO-197 and the programing cable. I was able to update the firmware to ver 2.1 Done

I have Comcast blast and when I installed the software that came with the cable and try to download the two free downloads I get NO INTERNET then was told to change my firewall which was set to high.
I set it to minimum with the same no internet. I then changed it to custom and I get the same problem.

Can someone please help me with this problem.

What are the 2 free downloads? Version 2.1 CPU firmware was the last update. Do you have DSP firmware version 1.4?

I believe he's talking about having bought ARC500 through RR (yes it does act as a reseller - why Lindsay never advertised it is a complete mystery), and when you do, you used to get 2 free downloads.

I have the original Radio Shack cable driver disk, but my external CD/DVD drive appears to have died. Thus I am unable to check out the free programs offered. I remember that there were a couple of programs offered on the disk and one may have been ARC500. Apparently he was able to successfully load the cable driver since he was able to update the CPU firmware. With Radio Shack almost out of business, it is possible that the programs are no longer available online and that is why he gets the no internet indication.

Maybe - Walter, there are no free programs for these radios. Fortunately, though, there's a 30 day free trial for each of them. You can see what is available by following the link I gave. You will need to purchase (cheap) a subscription to RR to be able to download data from our database. This article from our wiki will help you get started with using that radio...

I have ARC500 and find it to be a very friendly and easy to use program. If he purchases ARC500, I would be very happy to help him out with his programming. Walter, what is your location (county, city, and state only)?

Hi. The cpu and dsp were not the two free downloads. I got these from.

Above is where I get the DSP and cpu files. All set on the cpu,dsp.

I also had this problem with the pro-2096. 8? years ago I believe I called RR and got the solution back then. I don't really remember it that is correct. I am losing my memory due to medical health problems.

I got the original trial software which brought me back to Radio Reference where their is a free two download files to program the scanner then after that, the free downloads and I would be very happy to pay the one year subscription to down load more files for the scanner.

Very often antiviruses are too aggressive and block legitimate items. Turn off your antivirus temporarily through the program, see if it works then.
Everyone has their favorite software, I use PSREdit 500, also has free trial.
Bonus - if your on windows 10, no need for additional antivirus, comes with one - Defender.

Hi. The first thing I did was turn off Microsoft security essentials with Defender. then I disabled Malwarebytes then disabled CCleaner. Then I went into Comcast's docsis3 moden/router and reduced the firewall from high to low. Then I went to custom settings and still nothing. I have zero issues downloading any other files else where. Just here. I am using Windows 7 x64. I even went into the scanner icon to run in XP mode. No connection. I now have 4 days before the software demo time runs out. If I can't make a connection, then getting an subscription would not help Seams when I have an issue at times that I am the only person to have these problems. Thank you for your time to help.

I was not able to edit the message a third time. This is what I did 5 minutes ago.
I lowered the security LOW level. Then I re loaded win 7 64bit in SAFE mode with internet.
I ran the scanner software again and same thing no internet with the same messages in one of the pictures above.

I checked the database and found that Rockingham Co and Derry use conventional channels. I don't use the download. I do all custom programming manually using the software so that I can set up the alpha tags and scan lists exactly the way I want them. If you are going to be using ARC500, I will do a file that you can open with the software and then upload to the scanner. Other than Rockingham Co and Derry Fire and PD, are there any other close cities, airports, railroads, state police, or other agencies. that you would like included?

I have the pro 197, pro-2096 and the pro-96 digital hand held scanners
Is ARC500 the only software I will need to download files to all the scanners?

I was told I needed to get two separate software programs to be able to program the pro-197 and another program to install the downloaded files to the pro-2096 and the hand held digital scanner.

ARC500 will work only with the PSR500, PSR600, Pro-106, Pro-197, Pro-651, Pro-652, WS1040, and WS1065 scanners. ARC96 will work with the Pro-96 and Pro-2096 scanners. I have both programs.

Okay. Will I need two separate subscriptions to download the databases one subscription for the 197 and another separate one for the 2096, pro-96?

You need only one subscription. ARC96 and ARC500 are both supported for downloads.
