Will the Radio Shack Pro-197 scan the Ft Wayne IN. City Police? I can't hear anything am I doing something wrong? or did I buy the wrong type of scanner?

it should be able to It appears that the system has rebanded so you may need to use a custom table. I read it somewhere but can't remember which thread it was in I think it was in the Safe-T thread but not sure.

kb9jcx, The Radio Shack Pro-197 is made for Radio Shack by GRE. It will do both analog and digital systems and will also support rebanding. This was found under the RR WIKI .Click on models and then click on the Radio Shack Pro-197 link.

Bandplan is wrong for the rebanded systtem. Put in the right bandplan and it will scan properly. Right now it's not finding the correct frequencies the systems calling for.

Thanks all for the reply I'll try the link.Also I'm having trouble picking up the IN state police it's like the squelch is to much or the scanner isn't sensitive enough to pick up digital, is there any internal settings
I could adjust using Win500? I had it working before but I don't rember what I did.

I don't know anybody. I seen a post with a link that said how to set up scanner configurations. and then after that I put the INSP in and heard alot of traffic I don't know if it was a coincidence or not but I was fine tuning my tlkgrp's and accidently erased everything.

kb9jcx, all of the talkgroups you need are in the RR database for your county(Wabash). You should be able to pick up the local Safe-t tower site in your area.You might read your owners manual to see if you can go into your settings mode and adjust the settings for digital and then play with your settings until you are happy with the receive.I had to do this for my Uniden 396T, 396XT, and my Uniden 996T's until I was able to hear everything with no problems.

The RRDB shows non rebanded freqs for both Wabash County sites. Not many SAFE-T sites have rebanded to this point. The 197 should work fine with these frequencies with no additional work.

However........If its a standard 800 MHZ rebanded which I believe rebanded SAFE-T sites are, you just select that option in the Win500 software and it populates it for you....and by the way if you have one of these scanners and are only programming it using the keypad you are making a mistake......

Thanks for the help. I also herd that the INSP is going to chang there freq. because NEXTEL is buying the 800 freq. Maybe just rumors.

It looks like I may be able to run up that way Friday or Sat and run Unitrunker on the system. I need to set up the laptop in the XJ for the drive. It's been in my Honda which is DOA. I needed an excuse to go up to the Fort anyway
