So the lights went out on the display of my father's Pro2030. After removing the 4 screws on the bottom of the unit I'm lost as to how to open it up i cracked it a little and looked in it with a flash light but couldn't tell how to open it without causing damage. Any one have any pics or advice for this? Or can the backlights even be replaced?

There is a 5th screw on the bottom. Push down a little where the bottom meets the face plate and it should pop right off. I had mine apart yesterday to install a discriminator tap.

Is there a fuse on the back of the radio? Maybe inside?

Google the scanner. There is a manual that shows all of the electronics inside of the scanner.

My suggestion, being the radio is 20+ years old, is to get a new scanner.
