This is about 25 years old. It works except I can't understand the words. I have tried turning the squelch knob...no luck. Any suggestions? TKS

What specific frequencies are you trying to listen to? Do you hear voices and it is garbled - maybe a problem with the speaker - unfortunately I don't think this model has a headphone jack.

!st open the squelch and listen to static .Is the static audio loud or too low? If the static is barely audible you have an audio output problem. Next set the scanner to receive NWS weather channel. If you receive the weather channel distorted, the scanner may need a coil aligned. Tell me the results.
