radio shack trc-446 made in thailand 6 pin mic.

i bought this radio new back when i was "young" and used it as a base station in my bedroom with my friends who had walkies and lived in the same blocks around me. serial number 0039099 (TRC 446) (labeled made in THAILAND) 40 ch. 6 pin microphone.

my question is what company made it for them and is it possible to safely raise the performance level???

and BTW thanks to the uniden guys who just saved my ass the price of a new scanner on my BCT15X with the ribbon connection fix!!!
