radio shack wall wart

here it goes,i wanted to get an extra wall wart for my pro 2096.i read in page #17 of my manuel about vehicle installation. the 2096 only reqiures 12 volts and at least 600 miliamps ,so i go to rs and buy a wall wart with the specs of 12volts and 1500 ma output and put the proper tip on with the proper polarity.well i plug it in the wall with out plugging it into the scanner and check the voltage output at the tip with a multimeter............i,m getting 15 v at the tip.so would you plug this into your 500 dollar scanner and turn on the power?thank you for u all for the help.

Yup, as mchart13 stated, some may read as much as 18 no load volts.

BTW, I thought Radio Shack discontinued the "T" tip.

His original post stated 15v which is about normal for most warts.

I did that with one of my 2096 cables also.

Ya they did. Figure that out. R.S. don't even carry the tip for there own products. I found a hand full at a closing store on $10 grab bag day, so I grabbed them.
