I've been meaning to ask, what CNI driver (or C and I ) stands for. Anyone know? Coming from the west coast, it's not a term I've heard before moving here.

Thanks!

Heh, interesting.. I was about to respond that it was a Criminal Name Index hit on a driving-related offense. Shows to go you how different areas have different meanings, I guess. :)

Is that the MO (or States) version of "undue care and attention (of a motor vehicle)"?

Sounds pretty close. You can be cited for CNI if you are observed committing more than 2 minor traffic offenses but it is most commonly used when someone is driving very recklessly, some examples would be passing on shoulder, passing on blind hills or corners, speed 20+ over the limit, cutting other drivers off and making unsafe lane changes...

The list is really endless and it is up to the officer to decide if you get a CNI ticket(which are very expensive fines) or cite you for each individual offense, or worse give you all of the above!

Instead of CNI, I believe it is actually wrote as C&I Careless and Imprudent.

Before they renamed it years an years ago, it was called D&R Dangerous and Reckless

This is for Mo., I don't know what they call it in other states.

My favorite was the ticket I got when I was 18 for "exhibition of acceleration". Wet pavement and spinning tires.

Back in 1966 I got about the same thing, but they called it excessive acceleration an exhibition of speed. This was for peeling out an layin' rubber he said, at 3rd an douglas streets in downtown Lee's Sumit Mo. by officer Ron Wilkes of L.S.P.D.
