• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I am having issues programming this scanner for the Houston, TX area. My dad purchased it and I am unfamiliar with the programming of these. I've read the instructions and used the list of frequencies found here but it doesnt seem to be working. All I ever get is static no matter what frequency I use.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Welcome to RR!

What exactly are you wanting to listen to? All of HPD/HFD requires a trunking and P25 digital scanner, of which the 405 is neither.

Yes, I was wanting to listen HPD / HFD. He wants something simple. After doing some more research, I found this scanner isnt what I need. Is there anything you can recommend that would work for me ?

Thanks again.
