I just heard from a ham in Tucson I know that Dave is going to close.
Is that right.
Be a shame, every time I visit the area I go in there.
Last of the old style stores around.

He has talked about closing for several years but he's still there in the same old shop doing what he likes best.

Since I am fairly new to Nevada, who is Dave, and where is his shop?

I was in his store today and it was business as usual. He didn't say anything about closing. It does say on his website that he is looking for a buyer so he can retire.

Been wanting to visit the place, really, but as I don't have a car, and I'm sure I couldn't get a CAT bus anywhere near the place, guess I'll just keep hoping I'll find someone going out that way sometime. Would be cool to check the place out, but I guess when I do need something I typically can always find it at the AES shop on Polaris back behind New York New York somewhat. Nice folks, good prices, so...

you can ride a bus out to Boulder City if you really want to. the Regional Transportaion Commision (they operate the CAT busses) has a trip planner on their web site: http://ttpweb.rtcsnv.com/

looks to me to be about a 2hr ride from the Monte Carlo

Cat Bus

And if you elect to ride the Cat Bus you might want to monitor their conventional radio channels as they often lack radio discipline and this can be most entertaining at times. Sometimes drivers will argue with their dispatcher with language that may not be appropriate over the air. Some of their transmissions are funny but it's worth monitoring at times. You might use an earphone or a headset if you are listening while on the bus.

868.2125 866.1250 867.6500 867.825 867.9375 867.3125 are the voice channels for their conventional system

There is a bus stop right across from Marshal Plaza where Radio World is located. Just be most careful crossing Nevada Highway.

Oh, ok, didn't realize there was any bus stops anywhere along that route since it appears to be more of an interstate tributary. Learn something new every day, whaddya know. Thanks for the info...
