i cant seem to download a driver for my 20-546 cable all the ones i found online are not working wihen i install them then go to Win500 to read from the scanner i get an error saying its times out. can anyne give me a hand please

Don't use the mono adaptor. Also what version windows?

I'm using FTDI driver 2.6.0.0 dated 10/22/2009, on Windows7. Open your "device manager" when you plug it in to the USB port so you can see which COM port it assigns (mine is usually COM4). Also, I've found it can be finicky about which order you make connections. Plug in USB first and allow Windows to welcome it into the fold, then connect it to your radio.
