Anyone doing any Fed monitoring in the Raleigh / Durham area? I am finding frequencies I think are Federal but are not listed anywhere.

170.8375
172.1875 Encrypted
170.5625
172.7125 NAC 300

If you have already done some sleuthing I am sure you can give me a jump start. I have looked through all the current and past topical threads and got some info but have more questions. Also if you need some help completing your sleuthing, maybe I can help by monitoring at different times.

Having the NAC's will help a little, otherwise everything is a WAG

Also since VHF has been good to us over this summer
VHF Propagation Map
You just might be hearing some good Distances.

170.8375 too many possibilities to even guess
172.1875 has been reported in your area using $130
170.5625 has been reported as PL 71.9 in your area

172.7125 $300 would lead me to think CBP/BP or ICE, but...big BUT...
you could be hearing from down in the FL Keys or NOLA...then again

Generally you can assume [some minor exceptions] that 162.0125 thru 173.9875 are FEDERAL

Some [not all] exceptions - Paging, Public Safety in/near NYC, Telemetry, News Media/Press Relay, State Forestry [generally 172-174 mhz] and finally those State VHF Trunked systems where the did petition the FCC and NTIA to use available Railroad and Federal Frequencies
